Congratulations Kelly!
Not only does she rock a perfect GPA, she also sets records in the heptathlon.
Now that's what you call BEAST MODE!
Flash Back to Bloomington High School. Signing her NCAA Letter of Intent to Run Division I Track & Field at ISU. |
Flash Back to one of Kelly's first Multis. |
Kelly placed FORTH! place at the Missouri Valley Outdoor Conference Championships today! I couldn't be any more proud of my little sister! Can't wait to be reunited with this lady.
10:30am @ RNCF
3 x Skill Work
10 x Pistols
10 x C2B Pull Ups
5 x Sots Press
NOTES: I hadn't done C2B for awhile, they felt pretty good. So happy I get to 100 Chest to bar pull ups at Regionals. NOT.
OH Squat Warm Up:
10 Minutes to warm up to starting weight
3 x 85
3 x 115
1 x 135
1 x 145
NOTES: This was the first time I have taken the weight from the ground. It's not the most comfortable thing to slam a heavy bar on the back of your neck, but I guess you gotta do what you gotta do.
Regionals 2013 Event 2/3
Event 2:
7 Minutes to establish 3RM OH Squat
Starting Weight Options: 85, 125, 155, 175
Athlete has to increase in 5# increments.
3 x 155
3 x 160
2 Minute transition to the Rings
Event 3:
30 Burpee-MUs for time (7min cap)
REPS: 24 completed Burpee-MUs.
NOTES: It took me about :40ish to clean up the bar, get it to my back, jerk it up, get set, and squat three times. I waited like a minute, added the 5 pounds, and then got 160 three times. I stopped after that because my legs weren't feeling too good this morning. I'm going to experiment with this more in the next couple weeks (and see what sort of weight all the other ladies are putting up) to see if I should attempt 165+ or save my energy for Event 3. After my completed 160# I had about 2:30 left, plus the 2:00 transition. I think the rest helped a lot because I was practically fully recovered.
My burpess MUs felt great. They feel so much better now that I'm a lot stronger. I didn't rest too much. I tried to keep the rest under control today. Andy thinks I can finish the 30 in 7:00. I hope he's right!!!
Rest 25ish minutes
One-Arm DB Snatch:
50 Alternating One-Arm DB Snatches for time
TIME: 5:36
NOTES: I did the first 20 unbroken. They felt pretty great. I was moving the weight really quick and was keeping up with John, one of the new coaches at RNCF. But, after the 20, he kept up that same pace and I fell off. I think I did a set of 10, and then did 5s or something like that. My back got really bothered by this. It was not comfortable by the end. Besides my back, these felt a lot lighter than I though they would be.
Cheers to Great Gatsby!
Nice work! You forgot to mention that I was doing the same dumbbell weight as you too haha. -Jon Hipp
